Strauss' 'Ein Heldenleben' ('A Hero's Life') (1959) was Karajan's very first recording as the Berlin Philharmonic's music director, and his first post-war recording for Deutsche Grammophon. It marked the beginning of a long-lasting partnership and remains a reference Strauss recording. Original tapes remastered by EBS and pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl.
