This was one of the best of the very few collaborative sessions recorded by the legendary jazz guitarist Grant Green with tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec. Blue Note executive Alfred Lion was always fond of Quebec's music, but was unsure how audiences would respond to the saxophonist after a decade of low visibility. Quebec's comeback, however, was cut short by his death from lung cancer on January 16, 1963. The wonderful band featured here is completed by pianist Sonny Clark (who also died prematurely in 1963), bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Louis Hayes.
