With an all-star lineup, 'My Point of View' is pianist and composer Herbie Hancock's remarkably assured second album. Featuring a program of Hancock compositions, this session from 1963 has a wondrous all-star cast: Donald Byrd on trumpet, Hank Mobley on tenor saxophone, Grachan Moncur III on trombone, Grant Green on guitar, Chuck Israels on bass, and Tony Williams on drums, who was just 17 at the time of this recording. The sheer musicality of 'My Point of View' is breathtaking, with Hancock demonstrating his arranging prowess. While 'Blind Man, Blind Man takes' its cue from Hancock's prior hit 'Watermelon Man,' this session also contains truly essential Hancock compositions such as 'King Cobra,' 'A Tribute To Someone,' and the bluesy 'And What If I Don't.'
