This audiophile series sources the original first-generation master tapes, with HD transfers made at Abbey Road Studios. Master files, including 3-to-2 mixes for stereo titles, were produced by Thomas Fine, son of the original producer and recording engineer for the majority of Mercury Living Presence titles. We witness mid-century Modern music, rich in dynamics and orchestral textures. The Wayne Peterson piece was commissioned and received its performance and recording debut by Dorati's Minneapolis band. Bloch recorded April 17, 1960; Peterson recorded April 21, 1959. Both recordings were made in Northrop Auditorium, Minneapolis MN, using three Schoeps M201 microphones.
