CMAT is the stage name of Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, a global pop star who lives in Dublin with her grandparents, where she is currently recovering from an AliExpress addiction. Her influences include Dory Previn, John Grant, Paris Hilton, XTC and KFC.
Between her April 2020 debut, ‘Another Day (kfc)’ and her most recent gem, her fifth single ‘2 Wrecked 2 Care’, CMAT’s been racking up the fans: supporters include Dork, The Guardian, the Irish Times, DIY, and The Sunday Times, amongst many others; radio plays from Jack Saunders and Steve Lamacq at BBC Radio, plus RTE Radio 1 and 2FM; and strong playlist support from Spotify and Apple Music.
She was selected as one of the First Fifty for the 2021 edition of industry showcase The Great Escape, and her debut Irish tour and London dates, in October and November 2021, sold out in hours, with her 2022 shows in Omeara, London and The Academy, Dublin, selling out in similarly speedy fashion. She’s been announced for a wide-range of upcoming festivals, including End of the Road, Latitude, Wilderness and, next year, Primavera.
